Karol-Warner's Dead-Weight Load Frame (Consolidation Test Apparatus) applies loads for stress-controlled soil consolidation testing of soil specimens. The consolidation apparatus allows instantaneous loading with minimal impact for measuring expected soil settlement. The Dead-Weight Consolidation Load Frame is simple and efficient to use.
The compact tabletop unit has a capacity of 48tsf (4,597kPa) and is equipped with a rear-weight counterbalance beam assembly allowing 9:1, 10:1, or 11:1 beam ratios for greater flexibility with weight sets. Locating pins on the top platform center the Consolidometer prior to loading. The plate and crossarm are constructed from anodized aluminum, and the frame is comprised of powder-coated aluminum for corrosion resistance in harsh laboratory environments. Beam support rod and vertical rods are made from stainless steel.
This load frame includes the 1100-20 Weight Hanger, which can also be ordered separately as a replacement part. Accepts Consolidometers for specimen sizes up to 3in (76.2mm). Floating or Fixed Ring type of Consolidometers and set of weights are required for use and purchased separately. Analog or Digital Indicator is recommended and also available separately. Order 1100-1 Stand for One Dead-Weight Consolidation Load Frame if a free-standing unit is desired. See our complete line of one-dimensional Soil Consolidation Test Equipment or our main Consolidation Test Machines page to compare between load frame types.
